Climate Change: It's Math + Science

Let’s go back to the basics….

WHY CLIMATE CHANGE?

Carbon. Carbon pollution is warming our world and throwing natural systems out of balance.

WHAT CAUSES CARBON POLLUTION?

Fossil fuels. Burning fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas create carbon pollution, which stays in our atmosphere and traps more of the sun’s heat.

WHAT IS HAPPENING?

Dramatic global warming. Both carbon levels and global temperatures have increase dramatically since the industrial revolution.

WARM DAYS SOUND NICE…..

Extreme weather. Having a warming atmosphere leads to intense weather patterns, where areas (like Pittsburgh) will see extreme flooding and some areas (like California) will see extreme drought. Currently, our temperature is on pace to rise by 4° C by 2100. To avoid the WORST impacts of climate change, we must keep the rise below 2° C.

STILL DON’T GET IT…..

Have Bill Nye walk you through it in this quick video from National Geographic (link).

This will be the future we pass on to generations to come.

PUT ON YOUR CAP, LET’S SAVE THIS WORLD

We need to all do our part. Let’s create a sustainable future together.

The tools and technology to do it are here today. The choice is ours. We can solve this crisis.

We can power our lives and economies without destroying our planet. But we have to act now.
